2) As a responsible contractor, BHE Services (Bolton) Ltd has awareness for environmental matters. We have set in place a number of strategies which has reduced any detrimental impact we may have made on the environment during the course of our work. For example, we have always implemented full site waste management plans on all our sites regardless of contract value. Our waste minimisation and recycling policy has been in place for some time..
3) Our Waste Minimisation and Recycling Policy ensure a high level of commitment to good environmental practice throughout all our activities. Systems and procedures have been implemented to encourage the recycling and reuse of materials with a view to minimising the overall levels of waste produced by our organisation. As part of our commitment to protecting the environment and reducing the level of waste, we have adopted the following specific aims:
• Cultivate a work ethic with a high level of awareness for waste minimisation and recycling.
• Promote economy in the use of paper and the selection of print formats and document styles in line with this.
• Encourage the purchase of recycled and sustainable products and materials and those which are suitable for disposal by recycling.
• Favour suppliers who operate according to sound environmental principles and encourage ‘take back’ schemes where applicable.
• Ensure that all employees and sub-contractors adopt the waste hierarchy whilst carrying out their day to day job.
• Encourage segregation of waste at all times and reduce the disposal of waste to landfill.
• Increase recycling of metal, glass, plastic, paper, and cardboard. This will include packaging from boilers, radiators, PV panels and the like.
• All sites regardless of project value will implement Site Waste Management Plans to ensure waste generated on site is minimised.
• All visitors and when applicable sub-contractors are to receive environmental awareness training.
• Approved suppliers need to demonstrate their commitment to environmental and sustainability matters prior to commencement of any contractual relationship.
